TeddyShark Archetype
A symbol is, of course, that which makes one the two levels of reality – spirit and matter, inner and outer truth.--Helen M. Luke
The story of TeddyShark
is a contemporary myth of what is means to be fully human. With humor, imagination, simplicity, and yet profound depth, TeddyShark is a 21st century archetypal symbol of wholeness, created by Philip Moore, Founder & CEO of Moore & Associates, over a period of several years based on his personal experience of unfoldment in consciousness. Archetypes are by nature universal, and so Moore & Associates has applied the TeddyShark model with executives and their leadership teams in engagements ranging from personal coaching, executive retreats and intensives, to organizational transformation with remarkable results. The WELL program continues in that tradition, specifically applying the TeddyShark archetype to a process of unfoldment to wholeness for the executive woman at midlife who is seeking a greater depth of personal awareness and wisdom, and a means to apply her gifts of consciousness to enhance all aspects of her life, leadership effectiveness and legacy.
TeddyShark is a fully integrated symbol of wholeness, greater than the sum of its parts; the “parts” are the following archetypes – each is present in varying degrees in every person:
Bear: Represents the conscious aspects of oneself including personality. Some traits of the bear archetype include the feminine, cooperation, inclusiveness, relationship-oriented, passive-aggressiveness, meaning-focused, subjective, and emotions.
Shark: Represents the conscious aspects of oneself including personality. Some traits of the shark archetype include the masculine, competitive, exclusivity, results-oriented, agressiveness, money-focused, objective, and action.
Eagle: Represents the superconscious aspects of oneself. A key trait of the eagle is observation, thinking, and the synthesis of intuition and logic.
Snake: Represents the unconscious which houses the disowned and unrecognized aspects of oneself. Various disciplines have called the unconscious the shadow, disowned selves, subtle ego, or inferior parts of the self. In pursuit of wholeness, midlife is often the time when aspects of the unconscious seemingly intrude or impose themselves on the individual, demanding change and seeking recognition and integration in our lives. Explored and incorporated thoughtfully and over time, the unconscious brings forth the gift of increased awareness.
Pearl: Represents wholeness. When you fully re-integrate and the "parts" come togther, the pearl represents the ability (the awareness) to hold the tension of the opposites. It's the synergy where the whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts.
